How To Make A Halloween Ghost Gathering

How to make a Halloween ghost gathering is the easy part, making it come to life Halloween night is the fun part. This gathering of ghosts is a great yard decoration both you and your family as well as neighbors. It can be made as a stand-alone yard decoration or you can create a complete cemetery scene. Either way, all will enjoy it.

The first thing you will need is to take a trip to your local hardware store and pick up 7 or 8 poles or stakes that are at least 6 to 8 feet in length. You will need some white twine or light rope and a large bundle of corn stalks. You will also need 7 or 8 large white pieces of cloth at least the size of a twin top bed sheets and 7 or 8 medium to large Styrofoam
balls, 2 or 3 sheets of black felt and some Elmer’s glue.

Pick a place that you would like to display the gathering of ghosts and place the large bundle of corn stalks in the center (the ghosts will be holding hands and surrounding the stalk.) Next choose the height of your ghosts and cut you poles or stakes to your desired height. Some people like the ghosts to be all the same height (tall) so that when they are in the circle the ghosts appear to be floating in a circle. Next place the Styrofoam balls on top of each pole or stake. (Please note it is easier to place the poles in place before you attach the heads.)

After the heads are all secure on top of the poles drape one of the large white clothes over each ghost, use the twine or rope to tie the cloth around the base or neck of the heads. Take the black felt and cut out round or oblong eyes to glue on the heads of the ghosts. It is up to you whether you want to add mouths or noses. I have seen both with only eyes and with mouths they both look good. Next take the corner of one of the clothes from one ghost and tie it to a corner of the ghost next to it, continue until they are all holding hands and circle the corn stalk. That’s it you’re done. This yard decoration
looks great just like this, but on Halloween night you can spook it up a little for the trick-or-treaters.

You can buy a CD or tape of spooky sounds and ghost chants at a local costume store of department store and play it out by the gathering Halloween night. Dry ice is also another great special effect that adds to the fun Halloween night. Get a block of dry ice from your local ice company and place it in a bucket in the center of the corn stalks, it will give the appearance of smoke rising from the stalk as the ghosts chant. At a small cemetery nearby you can place other ghosts and goblins lurking around.

My neighbor did a gathering of witches instead of ghosts and placed a large caldron in the center of the circle of witches. On Halloween night she place the dry ice in the large black pot and it appeared as though the witches were brewing up an evil spell. She played witches chants and screeches. All enjoyed it. So as you can see how to make a Halloween ghost gathering is the easy part, what you do with it on Halloween night is the real fun part. Happy Halloween everyone!

Ghost Stories and Creatures of the Night

Whether their existence is in the realm of reality or just a figment of human imagination, one thing is certain—Scary creatures of the night we come to know as ghosts never fail to capture our fascination. It is intriguing to note that debates about the existence of ghosts have been waged for centuries. Paranormal believers spread the word of veracity to prove they exist while skeptics continue to look for hard and quantifiable evidence to disprove the former’s claim. The dispute goes on.  Though not all of us have actual encounters with these scary creatures, we are made aware of their interaction with the living through urban legends. These have circulated through oral traditions and in a way, helped preserve traces of ancient traditions of the world.  In the recent years, many of them have been written making them more accessible to curious and skeptic minds alike. They may come in different forms, can be depicted as good or evil, and even be revered in some cultures as spirits of good fortune. I have collected a list of and ghost stories and urban legends from all over the world that have contributed to people’s growing interest, if not fear, in these creatures of the night. So curl up, pull a blanket and brace yourself for a good scare. Bloody MaryIn a dark room at midnight, stand in front of a mirror, and start chanting “Bloody Mary” thirteen times. Then, wait for the horror hiding on the other side of the mirror. There have been many permutations of this legend, but the most famous one tells of a vengeful ghost of a woman that has reportedly killed the person calling her; clawed the summoner’s eyes out; drove the person mad; or pulled the caller into the mirror with her. No one really knows the origin of the Bloody Mary legend. Speculations say that Bloody Mary was a witch killed for practicing witchcraft. Trapped in a CemeteryA group of friends dare a member to stay overnight in a cemetery. The person is locked in inside a coffin with a corpse overnight. The morning after, the one who did the dare ends up insane with his hair turned white. No one knows what more there is to this legend because the victims never speak again.Hanged Man in the ShowerYou go to a vacation and decided to stay in a cheap motel to economize. Tired and weary, you take a shower to freshen up. As you enjoy the hot shower, you suddenly feel something touching your head. You feel annoyed and look up. A horrific sight of a hanged man meets your sight. You yell and call for the motel’s manager. Upon coming back to check on the room, the hanged man isn’t there anymore. You explained to the manager what you saw and upon looking at his face closely, you realize that he has the face of the man you saw hanged in the shower.  Kid Looking for a Report CardThis legend has been depicted in the Taiwanese film, The Eye. The legend tells about a kid going around the building, knocking on people’s door looking for his missing report card. It turns out that the kid jumped off from the 13th floor of the building after having been scolded by his parents for not showing his grades. The child really lost the report card but was accused of lying by his parent. Desperate and scared of being beaten to a pulp, the kid opted to kill himself. Corpse in the ElevatorAn intern in a hospital is dispatched to the morgue located in the basement of the building. He is told to check on the patient who recently died and was taken to the morgue for an autopsy. The number on the patient’s tag together with her name is the only thing he know about the patient. When he entered the elevator, a woman dressed in a white robe is already there. He notices that the woman is also headed to the basement because the button was already pressed. The intern wonders if the woman is a doctor or a nurse because only those with official business can enter the morgue. His eyes then set on the wrist of the woman. There was a tag. The tag has the number of the dead patient he is supposed to check. The next day, the intern ends up insane and unable to speak.

Haunted Hawaii.. Oahu Ghost Tours Take You to the Edge

Interested in Haunted Hawaii?

On Haunted Honolulu’s Oahu Ghost Tours, guests are taken to some of the most haunted places on O’ahu, if not in all of the islands. The tour takes you close-up and allows you to witness firsthand these very unique places…from the much feared Night Marchers, to the places where sacrifices were made to ancient gods and goddesses of Hawai’i, and to the more modern haunts, like those of old hospitals that housed sick children during World War II. From orbs, to extreme and instant temperature changes, to anomalies that seem to have no source…. Many of these places are history by day, and haunts by night!

I have been on this tour a number of times, and I can tell you first hand that the guides are very experienced – absolute experts at telling the stories of these spooky places. All stories are true, and all sites are real. Historical and ancestral information is used, as well as eye witness accounts. Hawaiian ghost tours are not like the typical ghost tours you may be familiar with on the mainland or in other locations around the world. As Hawaiians have their own way of dealing with the supernatural, you may see and witness several ceremonial events at the places visited. All of these events are important to the Hawaiian and their personal beliefs. Please be respectful of these. Also, some of the sites visited may not have a particular story behind the actual haunt. The location may be just a reputed hotspot where paranormal activity is extremely high and ghosts have made it their home for a reason that cannot be explained.

Oahu Ghost Tours have three different tours available.

The first is a walking tour called Honolulu City Haunts. On this tour, you’ll be visiting several locations in Downtown Honolulu where supernatural events are still happening today. From visiting the former residence of Hawaii’s monarchy, to the location of a terrible modern day murder, close encounters are always possible! This is approximately a one mile walk, so I recommend wearing comfortable shoes.

The second tour called Orbs of Oahu is a driving tour. If ‘chicken skin’ is what you’re looking for, this is the tour for you! On this very intense and spooky tour, you’ll be taken around the southern part of the island as you make dead stops at some of the island’s most haunted locations of all. Many of these sites are modern day haunts, and many were made that way from terrible events of the past. This tour includes a visit to the infamous and very haunted site called Morgan’s Corner, made famous in countless books and tales.

Finally, for those who want to experience ancient Hawaii, from the dwelling places of the Fire goddess, Pele, to sacred places built overnight by Hawaii’s legendary little people, the Mehehune, to ancient petroglyphs, Oahu Ghost Tours® has a day tour called Sacred Spirits. On this 4 to 5 hour tour, you’ll visit some of the most sacred Native Hawaiian spots on Oahu.

Bring a camera (fast speed film recommended), and be prepared for what may lie ahead. I know this will be one of the most exciting tours you’ve ever experienced!

Aloha ~

This is perhaps the writer’s favorite. Take a piece of Kleenex. Gather it together such that it forms a bulb at the top and the bottom should be splaying out. Shaped almost like a ghost! Now, with a rubber band twist and tie to maintain the shape of the bulb. You can also use a garbage bag for the same. This becomes the ghost’s head. So just tie it as tight as possible! Now grab on a black magic marker to dot in the eyes, nose and mouth. The Kleenex ghost is ready to spook around. You can make loads of these and hang around the house. This would impress your friends & family and friends. You would be able to boast as a Halloween crafts pro!
2. Singing Ghosts
You can make scary balloon ghosts to hand outside the house and add some spookiness to your Halloween. Take 2 white plastic bags. These are easily available at the near by grocery stores or Wal-Mart. Now cut the handles and the written part of these plastic bags. Now start shredding the bottom of the plastic bags leaving away the seams. Try to make 1 inch shreds. Beware that the cuts are around 1 inch away from the seams. Now blow up your balloon & make a knot so that it remains inflated. Along with the top knot, now tape 1 bag to the backside of the balloon & 1 bag towards the front. Preferably use black-duct tape s it has quite good grip. Now, draw a ghost face. Tie a string surrounding the knot. The ghost is ready to hang! It can be even more entertaining if you tie some bells at the bottom shreds of the ghost. Now you would hear it haunting in the breeze!
3. Transparent Ghosts
Cut out the shape of the ghost from 2 sheets of wax paper. Now, cut out its eyes, a ghoulish mouth and other effects if you wish to, using construction paper. Next, pick out one of the wax paper ghosts. Lay it on the top of a newspaper. Place its eyes & mouth in the right place. Now sprinkle the remaining portions with glitter. Further, carefully place the remaining wax paper ply in line with the bottom edge of the prior (that is placed on the newspaper). Slowly overlap the lower wax paper ghost and further place a sheet of newspaper on them. Heat the iron at medium level. Run it over the ghost in order to meld the two wax paper ghosts.
